Cedarwood Plaza Nursing Home Workers to call for community support at candlelight vigil

CLEVELAND, OH - Employees of Cedarwood Plaza Nursing Home represented by the Service Employees International Union, District 1199 are organizing a candlelight vigil on Saturday, February 18 from 2pm-4pm to call attention to health and safety concerns for residents and staff.

"The management of Cedarwood Nursing Home is engaging in bad-faith bargaining that has our members concerned about the future of quality care," said Frank Hornick, Director of the Ohio Healthcare Division of SEIU District 1199. "We are asking the community to join with us in solidarity for the health and safety of the residents and the respect and dignity of the workers."

Healthcare providers at Cedarwood Plaza Nursing Home demand that twenty-five residents to one nurse aide is unacceptable and doesn't afford the staff the time they need to provide direct care.
