Employees concerned about quality care for residents and themselves.

Youngstown, Ohio - Employees of Pembrooke Place Nursing Home are concerned about the ability to recruit and retain the best staff that will provide quality care for the residents. Allen Vrable, CEO of Vrable Healthcare and former Mahoning Valley native, is attempting to discriminate between Union employees and non-Union employees by raising health insurance premiums to unaffordable levels for bargaining unit members.

"I spend a lot of time with our residents providing quality patient care." said Shiloh Kennedy State Tested Nurse's Aide (STNA) worker at Pembrooke Place. "We want to continue to recruit and retain the best staff. Our bargaining team has already agreed to wage and benefit concessions and management still wants more.  The employer has refused to offer the unionized staff the same medical insurance plan that they are offering their unorganized employees, which is a much more affordable plan.  It seems as if we are being discriminated against because we are in a union."

Since the end of August, Union employees have worked without a contract in hopes the Vrable Healthcare will be fair to those that care. At Monday's rally, representatives from the various Labor, community, and religious groups will be on hand to show support for the workers of Pembrooke Place.

Employees will host their Labor Solidarity Rally at Pembrooke Place on Monday, November 23rd at 6:00PM.
